Christmas Day morning 2004 around 09.00, the light was extremely crisp and bright which suited the infrared film that I had planned to use on this composition perfectly. The use of this type of film massively increases the contrast, giving the image the serene deep blacks in the river and the whispery light highlights in the windswept reeds. I adore this panarama, which I achieved by slowly inching out on a rickety old wooden boat mooring covered with frost and slowly and carefully setting up the tripod and camera. One day I’m sure I am going to come to a horrible watery end, but on this occasion I survived and think the end result made it all worth it! |
